Club History

Introduction

One Saturday morning in the year 2000, a couple of dads with their young sons kicked a ball in the park.

A few of the sons' school pals joined in and soon there grew a healthy crop of energetic Under sevens all keen to play ball.

Interest and enthusiasm was such that, with a lack of local coaching at this level, Myrtle Park Juniors FC were founded.

Funds were raised, equipment purchased and aspiring team managers honed their skills on an FA Coaching Course.

Sadly the 2003/04 season saw the Club forced to vacate their spiritual home “The Field of Dreams” at Myrtle Park Primary School due to redevelopment work. Fortunately an agreement was reached with Bingley Congs Cricket Club for the use of land adjacent to the Cricket field. Significantly, we are now staging a large part of our match-day operation on the Congs field and thanks to a generous grant award we are hoping to press forward with pitch development work which should provide some of the best playing surfaces for junior football in the area.

Affiliated to the WRCFA the Azure of MPJ now boast a hard core of up to100 boys and girls across the age groups 4-11 years, with 7 teams entered in the Keybury Alarms League for 2004/2005.

Training is on Saturday mornings (see Club Information page for details).

Magnet Plc also agreed to sponsor the new training tops for the U9B and U8 squads. Whilst Morton Concrete supplied track suits for the U8’s. We are currently reviewing our sponsorship and would welcome backing for our new U11 and U7 squads.
